Knowledgebase: Periods
What do the different periods in a transaction mean, and how do they affect the system?
Modified on 26 November 2012 03:27 PM
Each transaction has 4 periods on it. They are:

1. Transaction Period (Transaction Header Level)

The period which corresponds  to the Transaction Date.

2. Entered Period (Transaction Header Level)

The current period at the time the transaction is entered.  This is ledger aware, and so for a Ledger G transaction it will be the General Ledger Current period, R transaction the Debtors current period etc. This is used to determine the account balance when viewing Balances for prior periods.

3. Age Period (Transaction Line Level)

Period that the transaction will affect the applicable subsidiary ledger (Receivables or Payables).

4. Posting Period (Transaction Line Level)

Period that the transaction will affect the General Ledger.

The Transaction, Age & Posting Posting periods are determined by the AR & AP INI Settings:

  • AR_INVOICE_DATE
  • AR_INVOICE_AGE
  • AR_INVOICE_POSTING
  • AP_INVOICE_AGE
  • AP_INVOICE_POSTING
