What should I do if my General Ledger accounts don’t balance?
Modified on 26 November 2012 03:24 PM

There are two possible reasons for the General Ledger seemingly not to balance – either the Trial Balance Report has not been run for all Branch/Department/Accounts (therefore not including possible cross ledger postings), or, a posting has been made to an account which does not physically exist.

If the trial balance (or sum of Nett Assets + Gross Profit in the P&L/Balance Sheet) does not equal 0.00 when run for all periods, then the first course of action is to rebuild the G.L. for all periods (Accounting/General Ledger/Rebuild Periods). If that does not resolve the issue, then check the Suspense Report (Financial Reports/G.L./Suspense) and see if there are any transactions on the report which have an account in the ‘Suspense’ column which does not relate to the System Suspense Account or a recognisable Branch/Dept/Account.

If the above does not remedy the problem, please contact your local support office.
